OPPO has officially announced the launch date for the Reno 16 series. The new smartphones will be unveiled on May 25 at 6 PM local time in China. The lineup is expected to include the OPPO Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro.
Details about the devices' specs have surfaced ahead of the announcement. According to rumors, the base Reno 16 will feature a 6.32-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution, while the Reno 16 Pro will pack a larger 6.78-inch LTPO OLED panel with an adaptive refresh rate. Both models are said to use a metal frame and come in multiple color options.
The OPPO Reno 16 Pro is tipped to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset, with the standard model powered by the Dimensity 8550. Battery life could be a standout feature: insiders report a 6,700 mAh battery for the Reno 16 and a 7,000 mAh unit for the Reno 16 Pro.
Both models reportedly support 80W fast charging, while the Pro version may also get 50W wireless charging.
In terms of cameras, the Reno 16 series is expected to feature a triple module with a 200-megapixel Samsung HP5 main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.
OPPO might also introduce a new accessory called the OPPO Bubble. Rumors suggest it will have a mini display that can show custom images and offer remote camera control.
The global launch of the OPPO Reno 16 series is expected in summer, in June or July.
