After months of rumors suggesting it might be canceled or only exist on paper, the Trump Mobile T1 Phone is finally reaching some journalists. Early live videos show a device that looks significantly different from initial promotional renders and appears to be a reworked version of the 2024 HTC U24 Pro.
The smartphone was initially promoted with bold claims about U.S. production, shifting renders, delays, and updated sales terms. Early images made the T1 Phone resemble either an iPhone 16 Pro or a Galaxy S25 Ultra, but the actual unit is quite different. Journalists received a golden device with a Trump Mobile logo and an American flag on the back.
In terms of design, the T1 Phone is indeed close to the HTC U24 Pro, though the rear camera module has been slightly altered. A striking detail is the box labeling: it now reads "Proudly Assembled in the USA" instead of the previous "Made in USA". This distinction is important because assembly and full domestic manufacturing using local components are not the same thing.
The video also confirms certain specs. The phone costs $499 at a promotional price and offers 512 GB of storage. It comes preloaded with the Truth Social app, and thanks to its shared origins with the HTC U24 Pro, it retains a 3.5mm headphone jack — a rarity these days.
Journalists also spotted an unusual design quirk: the flag on the back features 11 stripes instead of 13. They requested comment from Trump Mobile about the components' origins and the reasoning behind the flag design, but received no response. The White House also hasn't confirmed whether Donald Trump himself uses the phone.
Despite these controversial details, the fact that units are now shipping changes the perception of the project. The Trump Mobile T1 no longer seems like just a prolonged announcement with no real product. However, first impressions suggest buyers are likely getting a rebranded Android device with politically charged design and marketing rather than a new, unique American smartphone.
