Fortnite is returning to the App Store across most global markets, and this move signals a new phase in its legal battle with Apple. Australia remains the exception, where the issue is tied to ongoing local proceedings.

Epic explained that Apple itself acknowledged in US Supreme Court filings that regulators worldwide are watching the case closely, as it could influence commission rules for digital platforms beyond the US.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney described the situation as the beginning of major changes. He said the company aims for greater transparency in App Store commissions. According to Sweeney, bringing Fortnite back now is a bet that further litigation will force Apple to reveal how it sets its commissions.

Fortnite already returned to the US App Store in 2025 after a nearly five-year absence. Now the rollout is expanding to other regions. Epic continues to challenge Apple's restrictions on alternative app stores and third-party payment systems.

The company also cites regulatory shifts in Japan, the EU, and the UK. In Epic's view, pressure from regulators is gradually reshaping the mobile app market.

Australia is currently the only major market without Fortnite's return. Epic says it is waiting for final enforcement of local court decisions and won't launch the game under terms it considers unfair.
