The Insta360 Luna Ultra is inching closer to a global launch, though the company has yet to officially announce it. German retailer Foto Erhardt jumped the gun by opening pre-orders early and publishing images and specs, revealing key details about the upcoming flagship gimbal camera.
According to the leaked information, the Luna Ultra is shaping up to be one of Insta360's most ambitious compact models. It will come with a dual-lens system, a 1-inch sensor, Leica Summicron optics, and 8K video recording. For more dynamic footage, it will offer 4K at up to 120 fps, and the camera relies on a three-axis gimbal for stabilization.
The focus is heavily on intelligent features. The spec sheet lists three AI chips and a Deep Track system designed to improve object tracking. This is key to competing with the DJI Osmo Pocket: Insta360 appears to be betting on both image quality and shooting automation for vloggers, travelers, and short-form video creators.
The camera also gets 10-bit i-Log and Leica color profiles, which should appeal to users who prioritize color grading and expressive images. Another standout feature is a detachable remote control with a touchscreen. Published images show the Luna Ultra will also come in white.
Foto Erhardt is offering early pre-orders with a €50 deposit. After the official launch, that sum will count toward the final price, and buyers will get priority in the delivery queue. The store page lists an estimated wait time of about a month, though this is based on the retailer's past pre-order experience.
A final price hasn't been confirmed. Previously, Insta360's head hinted that the Luna Ultra could land between $780 and $960 in the US. If that pricing proves accurate, the new camera will enter the premium segment, going up against not only upcoming DJI Osmo Pocket cameras but also more advanced compact solutions for content creators.
