Google has expanded the capabilities of digital car keys in Google Wallet, making them more flexible and easier to manage. Users can now not only share access to a vehicle but also assign different permission levels to each recipient. The update introduces roles like "co-owner," "guest," and "service customer." Each role has its own set of restrictions that can be configured when sharing a key through the "Share car key" feature in Google Wallet.

The standout feature is the ability to limit a vehicle's behavior for specific users. Depending on the role, the owner can set limits on speed, acceleration, and even the maximum volume of the audio system. This transformation turns the digital key from a simple access tool into a means of controlling how different people—from family members to service technicians—use the car.

The update also makes it easier to share keys between devices, including smartphones and smart watches, streamlining the process for everyday use.
