A user in Canada reported a possible fire of his Galaxy S25 FE smartphone while charging overnight. According to him, the device was on the bed, connected to a third-party 20W charger, and was inside a thick leather case that also contained coins.
He said he woke up to popping sounds and saw shards flying from the phone, after which smoke filled the room. As a result, he suffered minor burns, and his son experienced severe stress. Property was also damaged due to smoke and high temperatures.
This is already the third such incident this year involving Galaxy S series devices. Earlier, similar reports emerged for the Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S24.
The owner said he bought the phone new about six months ago and was paying for it in installments. He also noted that he used a non-official power adapter, although the cable was original. In his correspondence with Samsung support, he was given a case number but has not yet received a further response.
It is emphasized that such cases remain isolated amid millions of sales of the lineup, so there is no reason for mass panic. However, experts typically recommend using certified chargers, avoiding overheating, and not leaving the phone on soft surfaces or in thick cases during charging, as this impairs heat dissipation and can increase strain on the battery.
It is also worth recalling basic safety measures for lithium-ion battery fires: do not inhale smoke, do not touch the device, move to a safe distance if possible and call emergency services, and do not attempt to extinguish such a fire with water.
