Xiaomi has launched the 17T and 17T Pro smartphones, extending its flagship T-series with a new numbering scheme — the company skipped the 16 just like it did with its main lineup. Both models bring notable upgrades over last year's 15T and 15T Pro, but the real headline grabber is the camera: even the standard 17T now features a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.
For the Xiaomi 17T, this is a big step forward. Its predecessor only had a 2x telephoto module. The new periscope offers what the company calls 10x "optical-grade" zoom through sensor cropping and can shoot tele-macro from 30cm away. It's joined by a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP front-facing camera. The main camera uses a 50MP Light Fusion 800 sensor, while the 17T Pro upgrades to a larger 1/1.31-inch Light Fusion 950. Both phones feature Leica Summilux optics and support new Leica Live Moment, Leica Live Portrait modes, as well as 4K 60fps video with HDR10+ and Log.
The base Xiaomi 17T has become more compact, swapping the 6.83-inch display for a 6.59-inch OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate, 1268p+ resolution, and peak brightness up to 3500 nits. The Xiaomi 17T Pro retains a larger 6.83-inch display but gets a 144Hz refresh rate and an ultra-low brightness mode down to 1 nit. Both screens are 12-bit, capable of displaying up to 68 billion colors, and are protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.
Battery life is another major update. The Xiaomi 17T packs a 6500mAh battery — 1000mAh more than the 15T — while the 17T Pro moves to a silicon-carbon battery with 7000mAh capacity and 16% silicon content. The base model supports 67W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging. The Pro version offers 100W HyperCharge, 100W USB PPS charging, and 50W wireless charging.
Powering the Xiaomi 17T is the Dimensity 8500 chip with eight large Cortex-A725 cores, Mali-G720 MC8 graphics, 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage options of 256GB or 512GB. The Xiaomi 17T Pro uses a more powerful 3nm Dimensity 9500, claimed to deliver a 32% increase in single-core CPU performance and a 33% GPU boost over the previous generation. Both models feature Xiaomi's 3D IceLoop cooling system.
There are differences in wireless connectivity too. The Xiaomi 17T Pro supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 with Dual-Bluetooth, while the regular 17T maxes out at Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.0. Both phones come with NFC, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certifications, dual SIM support, and eSIM in some regions. As expected, there's no 3.5mm headphone jack.
Prices have gone up. The Xiaomi 17T starts at €750 for the 12/256GB version, while the Xiaomi 17T Pro starts at €900 for the same configuration.
