TeamGroup unveiled the T-Create Expert P35SG external SSD at Computex 2026, featuring a remote self-destruct capability. The drive can be triggered via 4G LTE, allowing owners to wipe data even without Wi-Fi or a computer connection. A simple text message initiates the process.
After receiving the command, the SSD performs a deep logical wipe, followed by high-voltage physical destruction of the hardware to prevent data recovery. Essentially, this is a solution for scenarios where data security outweighs the preservation of the drive itself. About a year ago, TeamGroup showed a similar physical self-destruct feature on the M.2 SSD P250Q-M80, but the new model emphasizes remote activation.
In addition to the P35SG, TeamGroup introduced the T-Create Expert P35S, which has the same capability but triggered by a physical button on the enclosure. Another new offering is the P33 External SSD with an e-Paper display that shows free space, drive status, device name, and other details without needing a computer. This screen could replace labels and make managing multiple external SSDs easier.
Exact launch dates are unconfirmed, but the new drives are expected to hit shelves in the coming weeks and months. The highlight of the show remains the T-Create Expert P35SG: a niche product that demonstrates how manufacturers now view portable storage as not just about speed, but also about physical data security.
