Samsung is rumored to be working on a Galaxy S27 Pro, a new model set to launch alongside the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, and Galaxy S27 Ultra in January. Positioned as a smaller alternative to the Ultra, it reportedly lacks the built-in S Pen stylus.

The Galaxy S27 Pro is said to feature a 6.47-inch display and the same main and ultrawide cameras as the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Leaks suggest the telephoto lens will differ, keeping a clear gap between the Pro and the full Ultra. The biggest surprise, however, is the battery. According to an X insider, the Pro will pack a 5,000 mAh cell. While that's not groundbreaking for Chinese phones in 2026-2027, it's impressive for a relatively compact Samsung flagship.

Ditching the S Pen may be the key to fitting such a large battery. Ultra models reserve space for the stylus, but the Pro could repurpose that room for the battery and other components. As a result, the smaller model might match the Galaxy S26 Ultra in capacity.

If these rumors hold up, the Galaxy S27 Pro could become one of the most intriguing phones in the lineup. It would offer many Ultra features in a more convenient size, with battery life that theoretically matches the bigger model. For users who don't care about the S Pen, this could be a more practical choice than the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
