The Gears of War: E-Day Steam page now lists the system requirements for the PC version. Launch is still some way off, but it is already clear that the game will need 64-bit Windows, DirectX 12 support and 130 GB of free space on an SSD. A regular hard drive is not mentioned in the requirements, so a solid-state drive is effectively becoming mandatory.
The minimum configuration starts with Windows 10 64-bit version 22H2, 12 GB of RAM and CPUs in the class of the Ryzen 5 2600X, Core i7-6850K or Core i5-10400. The GPU has to be at least a GeForce RTX 2060, GeForce RTX 5050, Radeon RX 6600, Radeon RX 9060 or Intel Arc A580.
The recommended requirements are noticeably higher, but for a major 2026 release they do not look too intimidating yet. This tier lists Windows 11 64-bit version 25H2 or newer, 16 GB of RAM, a Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-11600K processor, plus graphics cards on the level of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 5060, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Radeon RX 9060 XT or Intel Arc B580.
Steam does not yet say which resolution, frame rate or graphics preset these configurations target. It also does not clarify whether ray tracing and upscaling technologies are included. Judging by the graphics cards in the minimum list, the developers may well be counting on modern upscaling methods.
The appearance of the requirements several months before launch suggests that the PC version is already far enough along for an early hardware estimate. At the same time, the specifications may still change closer to release, especially if the developers continue optimization or add extra graphics modes.
Gears of War: E-Day will launch on October 6, 2026. The game is confirmed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere and Steam.
