Fujifilm X-T5 looks ready to make room for its successor. According to FujiRumors, the upcoming Fujifilm X-T6 will bring at least two notable changes: a new film simulation and redesigned top control dials.
Film simulations have long been one of Fujifilm cameras’ defining features. They let photographers get distinctive color rendering straight out of the camera, without lengthy editing on a computer. The new simulation is rumored to focus on deeper and richer colors, which could appeal to photographers shooting portraits, city scenes and travel.
The second change is about ergonomics. Fujifilm is reportedly reworking the top control dials to make them more convenient than those on the X-T5. It is still unclear whether the camera will keep the familiar layout with separate ISO, shutter-speed and exposure-compensation dials, or whether one of them will gain a new role, such as quick access to film simulations.
Earlier rumors linked the Fujifilm X-T6 to a new 40 MP X-Trans sensor of the sixth APS-C generation and X-Processor 6. Image stabilization, a multi-shot mode with output resolution of up to 200 MP, 8K video support and a fully articulating screen have also been mentioned.
Official details on the Fujifilm X-T6 specs, price and launch timing are still missing. The leaks should therefore be treated with caution. But if they turn out to be accurate, the camera may become not a radical break from the X-T5, but a noticeably more modern version of the same idea: a compact APS-C model for those who value manual controls, Fujifilm’s signature color and versatility in photo and video.
