Caviar has found a new way to make the iPhone 17 Pro Max much more expensive and far more exotic: the company has introduced Magnetic Custom Collection rear panels that attach to the smartphone via MagSafe. This is not a fully customized iPhone, but a separate back cover for the body. It is compatible with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which in the US starts at $1,199.
The panel is built on a titanium base, while the PVD coating gives it a silver, gold or black finish, depending on the version. Its thickness is designed so the camera block sits flush with the accessory’s rear surface. As a result, the smartphone becomes thicker, but the camera bump disappears and the body looks visually more seamless.
Caviar has prepared five versions in total. Four of them are decorated with crocodile leather and decorative stones, differing mainly in color and styling. The most unusual model is called Relict: it uses white alligator leather, and a small triangular insert under the camera, according to the manufacturer, contains a fragment of a real Tyrannosaurus tooth. The detail is tiny, but for Caviar the point is not its size, but the sense of rarity.
There is also a practical downside: because of the titanium base, wireless charging and MagSafe accessories will most likely not work while the panel is installed on the smartphone. So the owner will have to choose between a luxurious look and the convenience of everyday charging.
Caviar Magnetic Custom panels for the iPhone 17 Pro Max are already available on the brand’s website. The price depends on the version and ranges from $1,630 to $4,490.
