The June update to Android 17 brought Google Pixel owners not only new features, but also a few unpleasant bugs. Users on Reddit, X and official forums are complaining about touchscreen failures, mobile network issues and unstable wireless connections.
One of the most visible complaints is unstable display behavior. On some devices, the screen occasionally stops responding to taps and gestures, while in separate cases owners describe an even stranger effect: scrolling directions get reversed. The glitches have been noticed on the Pixel 10, Pixel 9, Pixel 8 and Pixel 7, while Pixel 6 series owners seem to report them less often. For some users, temporarily turning the “Smooth Display” option off and back on helps, as this feature controls the variable refresh rate.
Another wave of complaints is tied to connectivity. After installing Android 17, some owners of the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a and Pixel 6a lost access to 5G networks. In some cases, phones fall back to LTE; in others, they lose mobile service completely. Users also report disappearing eSIM profiles after a reboot and failures with automatic Wi-Fi connections. Against this backdrop, several Google apps are also behaving inconsistently, including YouTube, Gmail, Play Store, Google Photos and Google Keep.
In the Pixel community, users are suggesting a network settings reset as a temporary workaround via Settings → System → Reset options → Reset mobile network settings. The procedure removes saved Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and mobile network settings, but does not affect personal data. According to users, it has helped restore normal 5G operation on some devices.
Google has already acknowledged the glitches, but a fix has not been released yet. The company recommends sending reports through the built-in feedback tool and official support forums to speed up the preparation of an update with fixes.
