Samsung has started producing OLED displays for the foldable iPhone Ultra — a device that increasingly looks less like a rumor and more like Apple’s next real flagship.
According to The Elec, Samsung Display has already launched the first batches of OLED panels for Apple’s foldable smartphone, which is currently being referred to as the iPhone Ultra. In 2026, shipments could reach around three million displays.
The panels in question belong to the new M16 series, which has not yet been used in commercial devices from other manufacturers. Compared with the M15 generation, these screens should offer higher brightness, better color reproduction and improved energy efficiency.
Starting production does not equal an official announcement, of course, but it does make Apple’s first foldable iPhone feel much closer. Under the agreement, Samsung Display is expected to remain the exclusive OLED panel supplier for this lineup for the next three years.
Apple is traditionally especially cautious with components for new device categories, so choosing the M16 panel looks like a logical move: the company needs its foldable format to arrive without compromises in reliability or image quality. Earlier reports also claimed that the foldable iPhone could launch in white, with an estimated price of around $2,000.
