Insta360 X6 appears to be close to launch after a major leak. The camera was spotted in a retailer database, revealing its design, expected price and main upgrade over the Insta360 X5. The new model has a noticeably more compact body and looks closer to a conventional action camera while retaining 360-degree video capture.
The body features two lenses, one on the front and one on the back. One side houses a small touchscreen with heavily rounded corners, while the power and shutter buttons sit on the edge. Microphone openings are positioned on all four sides, a tripod mount is built into the bottom, and a separate LED indicates when recording is active.
The biggest technical upgrade concerns 8K recording. While the Insta360 X5 records 360-degree video in 8K at 30 frames per second, the X6 is said to support 8K at 50 FPS. That should make fast scenes look smoother and allow footage to be slowed to half speed when exported at 25 FPS without duplicating frames.
The remaining specifications have not been disclosed. It is unclear whether Insta360 will also improve image quality, battery life, stabilization or 4K slow-motion modes. The smaller body and higher 8K frame rate could, however, push the price upward.
The Insta360 X6 is expected to cost €689 without accessories. For comparison, the Insta360 X5 launched in April 2025 at €589. The leak also mentions an Essentials Bundle priced at €789. No announcement date has been named, but a retailer listing usually suggests that the official release is close.
