Insider Ice Universe reported that StepX has officially unveiled StepX Neo — a device the company calls the world's first Agentic Phone. According to the source, OpenAI has yet to release its own consumer AI device, while StepX is already trying to claim this niche. The main idea behind StepX Neo is not simply to add a chatbot to a smartphone, but to build the device around a native large language model. It runs Step AOS and includes the Amoo AI agent, which is designed to be deeply integrated with both the software and hardware platform.
This approach is meant to set StepX Neo apart from ordinary smartphones that merely bundle separate AI features. If the promised capabilities hold up, the product could be seen not as a phone with an assistant, but as a system in which an AI agent manages tasks, apps and user workflows at the OS level.
For now, StepX has not disclosed Neo's detailed specifications, launch timing or price. It is also unclear whether the device will reach markets beyond its home country or whether its agentic model can truly outperform familiar mobile assistants. Even so, the announcement is an interesting signal for the industry. While OpenAI works on its own AI device and Apple, Google and Samsung expand agentic features across their ecosystems, StepX is already trying to establish itself as an early mover in the Agentic Phone category.
