Samsung is preparing a major One UI 9.0 update based on Android 17. The company may introduce the new interface on July 22, 2026, at Galaxy Unpacked, where the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 are also expected to debut. One UI 9.0 beta testing began in May and is currently limited to the Galaxy S26 series. According to preliminary information, the stable rollout for older models could begin in September.

The update may reach the Galaxy S23, S24, S25 and S26 flagships, including FE and Edge versions, as well as the Galaxy Z TriFold, Fold Special Edition, Fold5, Fold6, Fold7, Flip5, Flip6, Flip7 and Flip7 FE. The preliminary list also mentions the Galaxy A57, A56, A55, A54, A37, A36, A35, A34, A27, A26, A25, A24, A17, A16 and A15 in 4G and 5G variants, plus the A07 4G/5G and A06 5G. The Galaxy M56, M55, M55s, M54, M47, M36, M35, M34, M17, M17e, M16, M15, M07 and M06 are named too, along with the F70e, F56, F55, F54, F36, F34, F17, F16, F15, F07 and F06.

Tablets are also expected to be included. One UI 9.0 may arrive for the Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra, Tab S10 Lite, Plus and Ultra, Tab S10 FE and FE+, Tab S9, S9+ and S9 Ultra, Tab S9 FE and FE+, Tab S6 Lite 2024, Tab A11 and A11+, as well as the rugged Tab Active 5 and Active 5 Pro. The Galaxy XCover 7 and XCover 7 Pro also appear on the list. Samsung has not yet published a complete official compatibility list.

Visually, One UI 9.0 is not expected to differ radically from One UI 8.5, but several noticeable changes may still appear. Samsung could redesign the brightness and volume sliders, update the media player on the lock screen and in Quick Settings, add animated waves beneath album artwork, and expand effects inspired by Liquid Glass. Home Up in Good Lock may gain multi-finger gestures for custom actions, while Samsung Browser could add Ask AI for answering questions about open pages.

The update is also expected to bring new Galaxy AI features and deeper Creative Studio integration with Samsung's standard apps. Android 17 may contribute system-level improvements such as notification bubbles for any app, selective access to individual contacts instead of the entire address book, and more flexible layouts for different screen sizes and orientations.
