Waze is getting several new features designed to make navigation more useful for motorcyclists and less intrusive for drivers. The main addition is Motorcycle Mode: the app can now account for the needs of two-wheeled vehicles, including routes and shortcuts that may be available specifically to motorcycles.
In Motorcycle Mode, Waze will pay closer attention to hazards that are especially unpleasant for riders, including potholes, speed bumps, raised crossings, narrowing shoulders and narrow bridges. The app does not rely on algorithms alone: routes and alerts still draw on the live traffic map and the work of editors who specialize in motorcycle use cases.
Another notable change is personalized route recommendations. Waze will suggest options based on a user's previous trips, rather than only the current traffic situation. For example, it may learn whether a driver prefers highways or local streets. Personalization can be disabled. A new Less Chatty mode also cuts the number of voice notifications and keeps only important turn guidance, warnings and critical road events.
Gemini integration is expanding as well. Conversational Reporting, which Waze has been testing since 2024, now lets users not only report road incidents by voice but also suggest map changes. A new voice search can understand more natural requests, such as asking for the nearest gas station with the lowest prices.
Personalized routes, Less Chatty and Conversational Reporting are beginning to roll out globally on Android and iOS. Gemini voice search will initially be available to Waze beta testers, while Motorcycle Mode will launch first in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines.
