Samsung has begun building anticipation for its upcoming smartwatches, expected to debut at the July 22 presentation alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. The company does not name the models in its latest press release, but it is likely referring to the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

Samsung is putting the spotlight on “agentic AI” on the wrist. It wants to position the watches not merely as smartphone accessories, but as standalone devices for personal health monitoring and everyday guidance. The teasers point to three areas: entirely new hardware, longer battery life and new heart-rate-related features.

The new hardware platform may be the Snapdragon Wear Elite. According to rumors, the chip should speed up AI workloads and improve energy efficiency. That would fit Samsung’s other hint about longer endurance. Previous leaks have also suggested that the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could receive a larger battery.

The heart icon in the teaser is most likely tied to new health metrics. Samsung has previously mentioned Heart Health Score, a feature that could complement its existing tools for assessing cardiovascular strain. If the company makes this data clearer and more useful, the new watches may stand apart from earlier generations through more than design and processor upgrades.

The Galaxy Watch 9 currently looks like the more restrained update, while the Watch Ultra 2 may become the main wearable of the event. That model is expected to bring the more noticeable hardware changes, improved battery life and broader AI capabilities.
