Honor is preparing an unusual Robot Phone with a pop-up camera mounted on a mechanical gimbal. According to Chinese insider Digital Chat Station, the camera will use a 200-megapixel sensor, while Honor developed the key mechanism parts, motors and modules in-house and had them custom-made for the device.
The gimbal and rotating mechanism required nearly 100 additional components. The design uses four miniature motors, the smallest of which is just 6 mm in diameter. The internal drive relies on a special multipole magnetization technology. The main load-bearing parts are made from titanium alloy to improve durability. Producing these components reportedly costs about three times as much as conventional aluminum arms, while assembly involves more than 60 separate stages.
With memory prices rising, market participants estimate that the Honor Robot Phone with 1TB of storage could cost around 15,999 yuan. Digital Chat Station also believes rivals will struggle to release a similar device quickly because Honor's design is protected by patents.
The Honor Robot Phone is already available for reservation in China. Preliminary reports point to the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a compact four-axis titanium mechanical gimbal. Honor says its miniature motor is 70% smaller than common alternatives. A full launch is expected in August 2026, while the software platform should be the new intelligent Agentic OS.
