Marshall has introduced a limited-edition Bluetooth speaker, the Acton III, celebrating 60 years of shared history with Jimi Hendrix. The musician first plugged into a Marshall amplifier in 1966, and the anniversary model joins a special collection inspired by his music, stage persona and fascination with space.

The Marshall x Hendrix 60th Anniversary Acton III is wrapped in crushed purple velvet and finished with a silver control panel and purple knobs. A psychedelic graphic covers the front, while an all-seeing eye symbol appears on the side. Cosmic motifs and a black-and-purple colour scheme complete the look.

Technically, the anniversary edition is no different from the standard Acton III. Sound is handled by a 30 W amplifier for the woofer and two 15 W amplifiers for the angled tweeters. Updated waveguides broaden the soundstage and help fill a room more evenly. The speaker supports Bluetooth 5.2, Auracast after a firmware update, the Marshall Bluetooth app and a wired connection through a 3.5 mm input. Bass and treble can be adjusted separately, but Wi-Fi and a built-in microphone are not included.

Marshall says the speaker is made with 70% recycled plastic and contains no PVC or animal-derived materials. In the US, the Marshall x Hendrix 60th Anniversary Acton III costs $299.99, while in the UK it is priced at £259.99.
