Apple has begun testing the second generation of its affordable MacBook Neo. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the updated model could replace the A18 Pro with a faster A19 Pro and gain more unified memory. Apple itself has not yet confirmed the device.
The current MacBook Neo uses a six-core A18 Pro with a five-core GPU and 8GB of unified memory. The laptop also features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, 256GB or 512GB of storage, and comes in silver, pink, yellow and blue.
In the next generation, memory capacity could rise to 12GB. The extra memory should make multitasking smoother and leave more resources for local Apple Intelligence features. The memory configuration and processor specifications are still being tested and may change before the official announcement.
The laptop version of the A19 Pro is expected to use a five-core GPU. By comparison, Apple uses a six-core graphics version of the chip in higher-end mobile devices. Exact performance figures for the future laptop have not yet been disclosed.
No major design change is expected for MacBook Neo 2: Apple will likely keep the compact aluminum body, although the color lineup may be refreshed. A 2027 launch has been mentioned as a possibility, but the final release schedule has not yet been set.
