Qualcomm is preparing to raise prices on its products by a double-digit percentage. According to Bloomberg, the company has already notified customers, and the new terms will apply to chips and other components shipped after September 1, 2026. Reuters was unable to independently verify the contents of the letter.

In its message to partners, Qualcomm reportedly blamed higher component costs from suppliers. The company said it could no longer absorb the added expense on its own. Attempts to source suitable parts from alternative manufacturers also failed to prevent the increase.

The impact may extend beyond Snapdragon smartphones. Qualcomm platforms are also used in Windows PCs, wearables, smart glasses and other devices. Manufacturers may have to absorb the added cost, trim the specifications of future models or pass part of the increase on to buyers.

Further pressure is coming from shortages of memory and other semiconductor components. Production capacity and investment are increasingly being directed toward data-center hardware and artificial intelligence systems. As a result, consumer electronics are becoming more expensive to build, and some companies are being forced to cut output.

Qualcomm has not disclosed the exact increase for individual processors or product categories. It therefore remains unclear whether flagship Snapdragon chips, cheaper mobile platforms and PC processors will all be affected equally. The company declined to comment on the report.
