Rugged-accessory maker Urban Armor Gear, together with Dryout, has unveiled the Phone Recovery Pouch — a reusable case designed to dry wet electronics. It can hold a smartphone, foldable phone, smartwatch, power bank or another compact gadget. In the US, the new product is priced at $34.95.
Inside is Dryout moisture-absorbing material, which draws water out of a device and traps it in an absorbent layer. According to the manufacturer, the pouch can help after exposure to rain, sweat, high humidity, condensation or brief immersion in water.
Before use, UAG recommends wiping away visible moisture, switching off the device and removing any detachable accessories or battery. After light exposure to water, the gadget should stay in the pouch for 2–5 hours. After full immersion, drying may take 3 to 12 hours. The accessory does not guarantee that already damaged electronics will start working again.
After use, the waterlogged liner can be dried in sunlight, with warm air or by another method recommended by the manufacturer. This makes the Phone Recovery Pouch reusable, unlike many single-use desiccant bags. The outer shell is made of polyester with a polyurethane coating, while the flap closes with a hook-and-loop fastener.
The Phone Recovery Pouch is part of a broader UAG and Dryout range that also includes a pouch for wireless earbuds, a crossbody bag, backpacks and a laptop sleeve. All use similar moisture-absorbing panels but differ in size and purpose.
