Suunto Vertical 2 unveiled: AMOLED display, LED flashlight, 65-hour GPS

Suunto has unveiled the Vertical 2, a watch built for demanding expeditions and everyday life outdoors. The model features a redesigned heart-rate sensor for more accurate tracking, a larger 1.5-inch AMOLED display at 466x466, and a faster processor for smoother operation. One of the most notable additions is a built-in LED flashlight with adjustable brightness, a red mode for night hikes, and an SOS function — a practical touch when daylight runs short.

Key advantages

The familiar strengths remain in place: Vertical 2 delivers up to 65 hours of GPS use in dual-band mode and up to 20 days in smartwatch mode. The watch supports detailed offline maps with contour lines and trails, while the new Climb Guidance feature shows elevation profiles, grades, and alerts for ascents and descents. Quick Start Navigation lets you change course without pausing the activity, which makes on-the-fly decisions easier when conditions shift.

The watch comes in stainless steel and titanium variants, offers enhanced durability, and is operated via three side buttons that stay convenient even with gloves. There are 115 sport modes on board, training analytics, a weather forecast, elevation change data, and other useful metrics. Health monitoring features are available as well, along with syncing to the Suunto app and more than 300 partner services — a breadth that should cover most training needs.

Suunto Vertical 2 goes on sale October 15, 2025. Pricing is set at $599 for the stainless steel model and $699 for the titanium version. The overall pitch is clear: expedition-grade capability with day-to-day practicality.
