The vivo X300 series, unveiled this week, has already turned the spotlight on MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9500. Early tests indicate it’s not just competitive—it can, in some scenarios, edge out Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
In AnTuTu, the vivo X300 Pro posted 3,956,885 points, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 reached 3,731,077. That puts MediaTek marginally in front, with higher results not only in CPU but also in GPU and memory, even if the lead is slim.
It’s also telling that both devices lost the same 5% of battery charge during testing, despite the vivo X300 Pro having a smaller battery. The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, however, handled heat dissipation better and stayed cooler under load.
Analysts note that these outcomes may come down to how each manufacturer implements the chip. Phones from OnePlus and Honor using the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 are expected this month, and those releases should offer a clearer picture of what Qualcomm’s processor can really do. For now, the takeaway is clear: Dimensity 9500 has firmly entered the flagship tier and stands as a genuine rival to Snapdragon.
