Samsung axes Galaxy S26 Edge as S25 Edge sales disappoint

Samsung has reportedly scrapped the Galaxy S26 Edge. According to South Korean outlet Newspim, the move is tied to weaker-than-expected sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

The Edge line set out to deliver an ultrathin, lightweight flagship meant to outpace rivals, including Apple. The idea didn’t catch on: the report notes that since launch, the Galaxy S25 Edge sold around 1.3 million units, while other models in the family moved several million. The numbers suggest the concept struggled to find a broad audience.

In response, Samsung is shutting down the Edge direction and will keep three models in the next generation: Galaxy S26 (Pro), S26 Plus and S26 Ultra. Production of the S25 Edge will end once remaining stock is cleared, and the chances of the Edge branding returning are described as extremely slim. It comes across as a pragmatic reset that channels effort into what buyers are actually choosing.

Although development of the Galaxy S26 Edge was completed, the company decided against releasing it to focus on more popular formats. Official confirmation is expected closer to the Galaxy S26 series presentation—a cautious step that favors a tighter, clearer lineup over simply adding another variant.
