Apple unveils Vision Pro with M5 chip, visionOS 26, and a comfier fit

Apple has unveiled a new Vision Pro where everything is faster, lasts longer, and is easier to wear. The headline change is a move to the M5 chip, which brings a bump in performance, a sharper image, and noticeably extended battery life. Along the way, the design gets a refresh with a dual knit strap that improves comfort and adapts to different head sizes.

The update also arrives with visionOS 26. It adds interactive widgets, upgraded Apple Intelligence, more realistic spatial scenes, and broader support for third-party apps. Vision Pro steps up for games as well: improved graphics with hardware-accelerated ray tracing deliver more convincing lighting and reflections, pushing immersion further.

Apple emphasizes that Vision Pro is not only about entertainment but also a professional tool. The headset suits designers, engineers, medical professionals, and content creators, letting them use Mac, iPad, and third-party apps in a spatial format. Together, the hardware and software shifts underline a clear intent to make the device pull double duty at work and at play.

The new model is already available for pre-order in nine countries, and on October 22 Vision Pro with the M5 chip goes on sale at Apple Store locations.
