AMD Radeon RX 9060 Rivals RTX 5060 with Strong 1080p Performance

AMD has introduced the budget-friendly Radeon RX 9060, a graphics card that outperforms NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5050 in gaming tests and comes remarkably close to the RTX 5060 in overall performance. According to benchmarks from Technosaurus, the RX 9060 trails the RTX 5060 by just 2% in titles like God of War (2018), Cyberpunk 2077, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 at 1080p with maximum settings. Against the RTX 5050, the RX 9060 shows a clear lead of around 20%.

This card is essentially a scaled-down version of the RX 9060 XT, equipped with 8 GB of VRAM and running about 6% slower than its more powerful sibling. In synthetic benchmarks, it scored 14,132 points in 3DMark Time Spy and 35,511 in Fire Strike — figures that are 38% and 25% higher, respectively, than those of the RTX 5050. The RTX 5060 still holds a slight edge, outperforming the RX 9060 by about 3–4%.

The most notable drawback of the RX 9060 is its memory capacity. With only 8 GB of VRAM, it meets the bare minimum for modern gaming in 2025. Another limitation, according to reports, is availability: the RX 9060 is expected to be sold exclusively as part of prebuilt gaming PCs, whereas the RTX 5050 will still be available for individual purchase.

If AMD prices the RX 9060 on par with, or below, the RTX 5050, it could become an attractive option for Full HD gaming. However, for those with the budget, stepping up to a 16 GB model such as the RX 9060 XT would offer more headroom for future performance needs.
