Xiaomi Smart Camera C302 launches worldwide with 2K video, AI detection and privacy features

According to Xiaomi’s global website, the company has begun the worldwide rollout of its new Smart Camera C302. The compact model records in 2K, brings intelligent recognition into the mix, and emphasizes privacy, all while aiming to stay budget-friendly.

The Smart Camera C302 features a 3 MP sensor with a 2304×1296 resolution and a motorized mechanism that delivers an almost 360-degree view. It’s easy to steer through the Xiaomi Home app, supports the H.265 codec, and can be mounted on a wall or installed inverted, depending on the setup.

Low-light performance gets a clear boost: a high-sensitivity sensor keeps color for longer in dim scenes, while six infrared LEDs provide visibility without the telltale red glow.

The AI system can tell people, pets, and infants apart, and it also listens for unusual sounds, including crying or the clink of breaking glass. Users can define smart zones to receive alerts only when it really matters. In day-to-day use, those targeted notifications tend to be more helpful than another bump in resolution, and the feature set leans into that idea.

To protect privacy, the lens can physically retract into the body, and the built-in MJA1 chip encrypts data. Part of the processing runs locally, so video doesn’t have to be sent to the cloud.

The camera supports Wi‑Fi 6, two-way audio, and works with the Alexa and Google Assistant voice platforms. Footage can be stored on a microSD card up to 256 GB or in Xiaomi’s cloud storage.

While the global price is still under wraps, observers expect the Smart Camera C302 to come in under $90. With its mix of AI capabilities, flexible installation, and thoughtful privacy measures, it could become one of the most sought-after smart home picks in 2025. If pricing does land below that threshold, the value proposition looks particularly strong.
