Retroid has unveiled the Pocket 6, a new Android-powered handheld gaming console that becomes the most capable device in the brand’s lineup. It arrives with a 120 Hz display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, a larger battery, and a refreshed look inspired by modern portables such as the AYN Odin 2 Mini.
The Pocket 6 adopts a more rounded chassis and adds a row of functional buttons beneath the screen, flanked by speakers. Visually, the device feels more cohesive and ergonomic, the sort of refinement that tends to matter over long sessions. It comes in six colorways spanning bright and pastel tones. The D-pad has been reworked, while the ABXY buttons now feature backlighting that should aid late-night play.
Up front is a 5.5-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 and a 120 Hz refresh rate — double that of the Pocket 5. Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a clear jump over the previous model’s Snapdragon 865. Two configurations are offered: 8 GB of LPDDR5x with 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, or 12 GB of LPDDR5x with 256 GB of UFS 3.1.
The battery grows to 6,000 mAh, with support for 27 W fast charging and 22.5 W reverse charging. Connectivity and I/O cover USB 3.1 Type‑C with DisplayPort support, a headphone jack, a microSD slot, Wi‑Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.3. The console runs Android 13 with Retroid’s own interface, pointing to a handheld that can just as easily plug into a bigger screen when needed.
The base Retroid Pocket 6 (8+128 GB) is priced at $229, while the higher-tier model (12+256 GB) comes in at $279. Preorder discounts bring those to $209 and $259 respectively. The company has not yet announced the exact preorder date, with sales expected to begin in the coming weeks.
