Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 and 4 Pro: One UI 8.5 points to 'Handel' and 'Bach' codenames

Samsung is preparing a new generation of true wireless earbuds — Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro — and, judging by fresh clues in the One UI 8.5 firmware, the project is getting an unexpectedly refined touch. Internal codenames spotted in the system point to "Handel" for Buds 4 and "Bach" for Buds 4 Pro — an overt nod to the great Baroque composers.

These references surfaced inside the Buds Manager app, the software used to control Samsung’s earbuds. Earlier, a test build of One UI 8.5 had already revealed Buds 4 icons, the first sign that the lineup was nearing an update. This new find effectively confirms that both models are in development and moving toward release.

Notably, this is the first time Samsung has leaned into a musical theme for earbud code names. Previous generations were far more down-to-earth: Buds 2 were labeled "Berry," Buds 3 — "Jelly," Buds 3 Pro — "Paran," and the FE version carried the name "Gemstone."

Design and hardware details remain under wraps. It’s unclear whether Samsung will stick with the previous look or opt for a radical shift, but the chosen codenames read like an attempt to highlight a more premium, music-centric identity. Perhaps the first official images aren’t far off — and then it will be clear whether "Handel" and "Bach" live up to their resonant names.
