Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, confirming the existence of its most ambitious foldable yet. The device uses three screen segments and opens into what is essentially a nearly full-size tablet. It’s the first time the company has shown the gadget live rather than in renders — the model was spotted at the K-Tech Showcase held in the run-up to the APEC 2025 summit.
Despite the public appearance, reporters were not allowed to handle or test the phone. Two units sat behind glass — one folded, the other fully opened. As expected, both sides of the device are able to fold, keeping it compact when closed while making it somewhat thicker than typical foldables. The glass-only setup underscores how carefully Samsung is managing first impressions.
According to insiders, the main display measures about 6.5 inches when the device is folded and expands to roughly 10 inches when fully opened. In effect, the form factor blends the roles of a smartphone and a tablet, nudging the category of hybrid gadgets in a fresh direction.
Rumor has it Samsung will produce a limited run — between 50,000 and 100,000 units — and focus on select countries. A global rollout isn’t expected, but a launch is still planned before the end of 2025. Positioned as a technology showcase, the Galaxy Z TriFold is likely to foreshadow the next wave of Samsung’s foldables.
