Xiaomi 16 lineup may debut Sept 25 with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, HyperOS 3 and 100W charging

Xiaomi is preparing to bring the 16 series to market ahead of schedule: according to insiders, the unveiling could happen as early as late September, with September 25 considered the most likely date. That would be several weeks earlier than last year’s 15 series, which arrived in October—a noticeably brisker pace for the company.

The lineup is expected to include three models: Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Mini. All three have already passed certification and will support 100-watt wired charging. The two lower-tier versions are set to use 6.3-inch screens, while the top-end Pro Max is slated to feature a 6.8-inch display.

The smartphones will be built on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which Qualcomm will unveil on September 23. They will run the stable release of Hyper OS 3, promising higher performance and smoother operation. The system has shown solid results in tests and manages multitasking without issues—on paper, a combination that should translate into a snappier everyday experience.
