HUAWEI is preparing to launch the Mate 70 Air, and if the latest leaks are on point, it could become the most unconventional phone in the series so far.
The Mate 70 Air is tipped to feature a slim aluminum-and-glass chassis and a large circular camera island, visually aligning it with the Mate flagships. A symmetrically arranged triple camera setup stands out on the back, hinting at serious imaging ambitions and a design that aims to blur the line between ultra-thin and high-end.
According to leaker PandaBald, the phone will come with a 50 MP main camera, a 13 MP ultrawide, and an 8 MP periscope telephoto—an impressive trio for a model that leans compact. Earlier details also point to a 1/1.3-inch sensor, nudging the Mate 70 Air closer to top-tier territory than to the mid-range.
The battery deserves a separate mention: a 6,500 mAh unit—among the largest for phones around 6 mm thick. For context, the Moto Edge 70 carries a 4,800 mAh battery and is already considered power-dense. If these figures hold, endurance could become a headline feature without adding bulk.
Data from China Telecom suggests the Mate 70 Air will run on the Kirin 9020 chipset and offer up to 16 GB of RAM, with several color options planned. It is expected to ship with HarmonyOS NEXT, though there is no official confirmation yet, so the software story remains to be clarified.
If the rumors pan out, the Mate 70 Air could combine flagship-grade performance, capable cameras, and an impressively thin profile—making it one of HUAWEI’s most intriguing phones this year. The official announcement is expected in China on November 6, while international release plans are still unknown.
