New leaks have surfaced that reveal the design and packaging of the DJI Osmo Action 6, the company’s next-generation action camera. Several reputable outlets, including The New Camera and XdronesStudio, published photos showing the newcomer alongside the Action 5 Pro, as well as shots of the retail box — a sign that the launch may be just around the corner.
At first glance the camera looks familiar, yet the enlarged lens immediately draws attention and appears to be the headline upgrade. According to the leaks, DJI has built in a variable aperture that switches between f/2.0 and f/4.0, giving users more say over exposure. In practice, that should help keep backgrounds softer in low light and maintain crisp results under harsh sun without constantly relying on ND filters.
The sensor has reportedly been upgraded too: from 1/1.3 inch to a 1/1.1-inch unit. That move is said to promise cleaner images and less noise when the light drops. Meanwhile, the body seems largely unchanged, which should preserve compatibility with existing mounts and accessories — a practical touch many will appreciate.
Despite the larger lens, overall dimensions are described as close to the Action 5 Pro. Early pricing hints point to around £329 in the UK, €379 in Europe, and $379 in the US — a modest increase, but within the realm of expectation for a hardware bump that looks meaningful rather than cosmetic.
If the details hold, the Osmo Action 6 would become DJI’s first action camera with true optical exposure control — something that even the rival GoPro Hero 13 Black does not offer. For creators who often shoot in shifting light, that could be the deciding advantage. An official release is expected in late November.
