FiiO has unveiled the DM15 R2R portable CD player, blending retro flair with serious hardware. A partially transparent top lets you watch the disc spin, while the front panel packs a volume knob, EQ controls, and a compact 0.96-inch display that can show track time.
The emphasis is on sound and a beefy amplification stage. Inside are two SGM8262 amps: on battery power, the player can deliver up to 815 mW per channel, and in desktop mode output climbs to 1,150 mW. That’s a strong showing for a portable device; with that headroom, the DM15 R2R targets demanding headphones rather than basic earbuds.
The DAC is developed by FiiO and supports playback up to 24-bit/384 kHz as well as DSD256. Headphones can connect via a standard 3.5 mm jack or a balanced 4.4 mm output—uncommon on a CD player, but a welcome touch for those building a more serious audio chain. For wireless listening, there’s Bluetooth based on Qualcomm QCC3095 with aptX Adaptive support.
A 4,700 mAh battery is rated for about seven hours of playback and charges over USB-C. To keep discs from skipping on the move, a stabilization system is claimed, and an IR remote is included for home use. Sales are slated for January 2026, with a recommended price of $269.
